Denmark has completed purchases of advanced missile systems from both Norway and the United States, marking a significant expansion of the Nordic nation's military arsenal. Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus confirmed that Copenhagen has acquired Norwegian strike missiles specifically designed for integration with its F-35 fighter jets, enhancing the aircraft's offensive capabilities.
In addition to the Norwegian procurement, Denmark has also secured US-made air defence missiles for land-based deployment. The dual acquisition reflects Denmark's commitment to modernising its defence infrastructure across multiple operational domains, from air combat to ground-level air defence.
The purchases underscore Denmark's strategic positioning within NATO as the alliance faces evolving security challenges in Europe. By acquiring cutting-edge weapons systems from allied nations, Denmark seeks to enhance its deterrence capabilities and maintain interoperability with other NATO members equipped with similar platforms.
Neither the Danish defence ministry nor officials from the supplying nations immediately disclosed the financial value of the transactions or specific delivery timelines for the missile systems.
