DENR Orders Cleanup of Disturbed Areas at Sibuyan Mining Site

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has called for the immediate cleanup and restoration of disturbed areas at the mining site operated by Altai Philippines Mining Corp. (APMC) in San Fernando on Sibuyan Island, Romblon province. A composite inspection team led by the DENR visited the facility and conducted consultations with local communities as part of its environmental oversight responsibilities.

Romblon Governor Trina Firmalo-Fabic confirmed that the DENR-led team conducted a comprehensive assessment of the mining operations and the condition of surrounding lands impacted by extraction activities. The inspection findings prompted officials to issue remediation requirements to the mining company to address environmental concerns identified during the site visit.
