Dental surgeons' body dismisses reports linking it to 22nd Amendment

The Government Dental Surgeons' Association moved to clarify its stance on Monday, rejecting reports that attributed positions to the professional body concerning the 22nd Amendment to Sri Lanka's Constitution.

In a statement, the association emphasised that it had not engaged in public commentary on the constitutional amendment, nor had it issued any formal declaration representing the collective view of its members on the issue.

The denial comes as various stakeholder groups continue to weigh in on the proposed amendment, which has generated considerable public and parliamentary discussion. Professional associations across multiple sectors have been approached for their positions on constitutional reforms.

The association's clarification underscores the importance of verifying statements attributed to professional organisations, particularly on matters of constitutional significance. Officials advised the public to rely only on official communications issued directly by the organisation's leadership.
