Education Secretary Sonny Angara welcomed the House of Representatives' Budget Amendments Review Subcommittee approval of P1.952 billion in budget additions for the Department of Education under the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 national budget. The funding allocation represents a significant commitment to strengthening the nation's educational system as it continues recovery efforts and expansion initiatives.
The approved budget increases are designated for multiple priority areas within the education sector. Classroom infrastructure improvements, the ARAL program, and comprehensive school safety enhancements are among the key beneficiaries of the additional appropriations. These initiatives align with the government's broader agenda to improve learning environments and educational outcomes across the country.
The Budget Amendments Review Subcommittee, which oversees proposed changes to the national budget, advanced the DepEd proposal through the House Committee on Appropriations review process. The approval marks progress toward securing the full budget package needed to implement planned education sector improvements during the fiscal year.
The additional funds are expected to address critical gaps in educational infrastructure and support programs, particularly in underserved regions. Implementation of the approved projects is anticipated to benefit millions of Filipino students and contribute to long-term improvements in educational quality and access throughout the archipelago.
