DepEd strengthens textbook tracking system to guarantee school deliveries

The Department of Education announced it has successfully secured all planned textbook titles for the 2026 school year, marking a significant milestone in the agency's efforts to improve learning resource availability across the country.

To capitalize on this achievement, DepEd is ramping up its use of the Learning Resource Management and Information System (LRMIS), a digital platform designed to monitor textbooks and teachers' manuals from procurement through delivery to individual schools. Officials say the enhanced tracking system will provide real-time visibility into the movement of educational materials and help identify bottlenecks in the distribution chain.

The timing of the textbook procurement completion represents a departure from previous years, when schools often received materials well into the academic year or faced shortages altogether. By locking in all 105 required titles ahead of schedule, DepEd aims to give regional offices and schools adequate preparation time for distribution.

Education officials stressed that strengthened inventory management through LRMIS will be critical to preventing delays and ensuring equitable access to learning materials across public schools nationwide. The system's implementation at the school level is expected to provide educators and administrators with better control over resource allocation and identification of unfulfilled orders.
