PAS Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that support for the New Age Movement was serious enough to warrant the resignation of the deputy minister in question. He stressed that those holding positions of responsibility in government must set a strong example, particularly on matters of religious principle.
Tuan Ibrahim's remarks came as scrutiny intensified around the deputy minister's alleged associations with New Age Movement activities. The PAS leader argued that such involvement was incompatible with the values expected of senior officials in Malaysia's administration.
The call for resignation underscores ongoing tensions within the government over religious affairs and the conduct expected of officeholders. PAS, as part of Malaysia's governing coalition, has consistently advocated for stricter adherence to Islamic principles among public figures.
The deputy minister has not publicly responded to the resignation call. The incident reflects broader debates within Malaysia's political establishment regarding the intersection of personal beliefs and public office, particularly on religious and spiritual matters.
