Dhal Singh Bisen takes oath as Uttarakhand's new Governor

Dhal Singh Bisen assumed office as the 16th Governor of Uttarakhand following a formal swearing-in ceremony held in the state capital. The oath of office was administered in accordance with constitutional procedures governing gubernatorial appointments in India.

Bisen succeeds Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (retd.), who served as Governor for over five years and completed his extended tenure. The transition marks a significant administrative change in the hill state's governance structure.

As Governor, Bisen will assume constitutional responsibilities including assenting to bills passed by the state legislature, addressing ceremonial functions, and performing other duties prescribed under the Indian Constitution. The gubernatorial position serves as the chief executive representative of the President of India within the state.

The appointment reflects the ongoing administrative framework through which the central government assigns senior officials to gubernatorial positions across Indian states. Bisen's tenure as Governor will continue until his successor is formally appointed or he completes his term as per constitutional provisions.
