Dhanteras 2026 falls on November 6, auspicious shopping window confirmed

Dhanteras, a significant festival in the Hindu calendar, will be observed on November 6, 2026, according to calculations based on the traditional Hindu lunar calendar. The festival, which marks the beginning of the five-day Diwali festivities, falls on the Kartik Krishna Trayodashi tithi, the thirteenth day of the dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Kartik.

As per Hindu almanac calculations, the auspicious date will commence on the morning of November 6 at approximately 9:30 AM and conclude on November 7, 2026, at around 11:45 AM. This timing places the main celebration on Friday, November 6, making it the designated day for observing the festival across India.

Dhanteras holds particular significance for devotees, with many undertaking purchases of precious metals and household items on this day, believing it brings prosperity and good fortune. The festival is dedicated to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and abundance, and Lord Kuber, the deity associated with riches. Devotees traditionally clean their homes, light lamps, and make purchases during the auspicious window to invite prosperity into their households.

With the exact timings now confirmed, shoppers and festival observers can plan their activities accordingly. The early morning commencement of the tithi provides several hours for shopping and preparations before the day transitions into evening celebrations and prayers.
