Dhanteras Auspicious Window Identified as Friday Evening Pradosh Period

The Pradosh period for this year's Dhanteras celebration will commence at 5:49 p.m. and extend until 8:23 p.m., according to Hindu calendar calculations. This nearly 150-minute window is considered the most propitious time for conducting religious observances associated with the festival.

Dhanteras, traditionally observed on the new moon day preceding Diwali, marks the beginning of the festive season across India. Devotees traditionally purchase precious metals, utensils, and other items on this day, believing it brings prosperity and good fortune to their households.

The Pradosh period—a specific time window during dusk—holds particular significance in Hindu ritual practice and is considered especially conducive for worship. Religious scholars recommend that devotees schedule their prayers to Kuber, the deity of wealth, Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and Dhanvantari, the deity associated with health and medicine, during this designated timeframe.

Devotees planning to make auspicious purchases or conduct puja ceremonies on Dhanteras are advised to note the timing to maximize the spiritual benefits traditionally associated with the observance.
