San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur — The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has formally transferred 190 housing units to the municipal government of Caoayan as part of its disaster recovery initiative in Ilocos Sur.
The housing project addresses the critical shelter needs of families left homeless by a severe earthquake and subsequent typhoons that struck the province during 2022. The newly constructed units provide permanent housing solutions for residents whose homes were destroyed or severely damaged by the succession of natural calamities.
The turnover ceremony marks the completion of the DHSUD's construction and development work on the housing project. Local officials in Caoayan will now oversee the final distribution of units among qualified beneficiaries identified from the disaster-affected population.
The initiative reflects the government's commitment to rebuilding communities impacted by the 2022 disasters. Housing reconstruction efforts remain a priority as authorities continue to support affected residents across Ilocos Sur in their recovery and relocation to permanent settlements.
