DILG knew VP Duterte's location but chose not to enforce arrest warrant

MANILA — Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Saturday disclosed that the government had knowledge of Vice President Sara Duterte's location but opted not to "force the warrant of arrest" against her.

Remulla made the statement in a message to reporters, acknowledging the administration's awareness of the Vice President's movements during the period when the arrest warrant was active.

The DILG chief attributed recent developments to external pressures affecting Duterte's perspective. "It's very unfortunate that all the pressure in her life is affecting her perception," Remulla said, suggesting that circumstances surrounding the warrant had influenced the Vice President's outlook.

The statement underscores the delicate political situation involving the country's second-highest elected official, highlighting the government's measured approach in handling the matter despite having the means to apprehend her.
