MANILA — The Department of the Interior and Local Government and its attached agencies have submitted a budget proposal exceeding P332.5 billion for 2027, representing a significant increase from their combined allocation under the current national budget.
During a House committee on appropriations briefing, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla outlined the department's funding requirements for the fiscal year. The proposal reflects the DILG's operational needs across its various mandates and attached agencies that support local governance and internal security operations throughout the country.
The budget request comes as the DILG continues managing its responsibilities in local government affairs, peace and order initiatives, and disaster response capabilities. The department's expanded allocation for 2027 is expected to address growing demands in provincial and municipal government support.
The House committee on appropriations will review the DILG's proposal as part of the broader deliberation on the national budget. Final appropriation amounts will be determined through the legislative process before passage of the General Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2027.
