Dinagat Islands fisherfolk receive 50 motorized boats
The provincial government of Agusan del Sur distributed 50 fiberglass motorized boats to fishing communities in Dinagat Islands on Monday as part of its 20th founding anniversary observance. The vessels were provided through the "Bangka Ko, Gawa Ko" project, a Bureau of Fisheries initiative.

SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur — Fifty fiberglass-reinforced plastic motorized boats were turned over to fisherfolk beneficiaries in Dinagat Islands during Monday's ceremony marking the province's 20th founding anniversary, according to the provincial Public Information Office.
The boat distribution was conducted under the "Bangka Ko, Gawa Ko" project, an initiative implemented by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. The program aims to improve fishing capabilities and economic opportunities for local fishing communities.
Dinagat Islands, located off the northeastern coast of Mindanao, has a significant population dependent on fisheries for livelihood. The provision of motorized vessels is expected to enhance the efficiency and safety of fishing operations while potentially increasing household incomes for recipient families.
The handover coincided with Agusan del Sur's provincial founding anniversary celebrations, highlighting the regional government's commitment to supporting traditional fishing communities through infrastructure and livelihood programs.
