Dinesh Sharma assumes office as Andaman and Nicobar Lieutenant-Governor

Dinesh Sharma formally assumed office as Lieutenant-Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands following the official announcement of his appointment by the President's office. The appointment, notified on September 5, marks a significant transition in the administration of the Union Territory, which comprises a sprawling chain of islands in the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.

As Lieutenant-Governor, Sharma will oversee the governance and administrative functions of the island Union Territory, which spans over 350 islands with a population of approximately 400,000 residents. The position carries responsibility for implementing central government policies and overseeing developmental initiatives in the region.
