Dinesh Sharma sworn in as Andaman and Nicobar Islands lieutenant governor

Dinesh Sharma was formally sworn in as lieutenant governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Monday, marking the beginning of his tenure in the union territory. The oath-taking ceremony was administered by Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge, Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, at the official residence Lok Niwas in Sri Vijaya Puram.

Sharma's appointment comes as part of routine administrative transfers within the union territory's leadership structure. As lieutenant governor, he will hold executive and administrative authority over the island union territory, overseeing governance and implementation of central policies.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, comprising over 500 islands in the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean, remain among India's most strategically significant territories. The lieutenant governor's office plays a crucial role in administering the islands and managing their development initiatives.
