Diokno urges defense to accept authenticity of Duterte bank records

MANILA — Prosecution counsel Rep. Chel Diokno has requested that the defense team formally acknowledge the authenticity of bank records submitted by financial institutions that were subpoenaed for the impeachment case.
Diokno made the appeal to streamline the proceedings, noting that stipulating to the documents' authenticity would "conserve the time" of the impeachment court. The measure would allow both sides to move past the lengthy authentication process typically required for such records.
The defense team had previously raised objections to accepting the bank records without additional scrutiny. Diokno's request represents an effort to find common ground and accelerate the pace of the high-profile case.
