Dipanshi was unable to claim a medal at the continental championships after losing 4-11 to Kazakhstan's Zeinep Bayanova in the women's 50kg freestyle bronze-medal contest. The Indian wrestler's loss marked the end of her campaign at the Games, bringing her participation to a close without a medal to show for her efforts.
Bayanova's commanding performance on the mat proved too much for Dipanshi to overcome. The Kazakhstani wrestler's superior scoring margin reflected her dominance throughout the bout, which determined the bronze-medal holder in the lightweight women's freestyle category.
The loss adds to India's mixed fortunes in wrestling at the Asian Games, where the country has fielded a competitive contingent across multiple weight categories. While some Indian wrestlers have managed to achieve medal-winning performances at the Games, Dipanshi's elimination in the bronze-medal match means she will return home without recognition on the podium.
The Asian Games wrestling competition continues to showcase the high level of technical skill and athleticism among competitors from across the continent, with wrestlers from various nations competing for continental honours in their respective weight divisions.
