Director pleads not guilty to bribery charge in RM20.6 million loan case

Chan Kim Kooi entered a not guilty plea in relation to allegations that he received RM209,600 from Goh Hwan Hua, director of I-Serve Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, as an inducement to assist the company in securing a RM20.6 million loan.

The charge centres on the alleged bribery scheme, in which Chan is accused of accepting the sum in exchange for facilitating the loan application for the travel services company.

The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding corporate governance and the misuse of inducements in Malaysia's business sector. Such allegations typically attract serious scrutiny from authorities responsible for maintaining standards of conduct in commercial transactions.

Chan's plea of not guilty sets the stage for proceedings to determine the veracity of the allegations. The outcome of the case may have implications for corporate accountability standards in the country.
