Disabled Man Alleges Fraud by Former Minister's Wife in Property Deal

Hariom Sehgal, a resident of Dehradun, has accused Sonia Anand Rawat, wife of former Uttarakhand forest minister Harak Singh Rawat, of defrauding him in a property deal. According to Sehgal's complaint, he sold a building in 2021 for an agreed amount of 56 lakh rupees but received only 12.80 lakh rupees in cash. The remaining payment, promised through cheques, subsequently bounced, leaving him unable to recover the outstanding amount.

Beyond the financial dispute, Sehgal has also levelled allegations of wrongful occupation, physical assault, and intimidation in connection with the property. The complaint comes amid broader scrutiny of property transactions involving politically connected individuals in Uttarakhand.

Sehgal, who is visually impaired and has lost both arms, has appealed for intervention by authorities to resolve the matter. The allegations have drawn attention to questions of accountability and consumer protection in private property transactions involving high-profile figures. Efforts to obtain comment from the accused parties were not immediately successful.
