The ban on Discord, the popular communication platform used by millions globally, has been removed after productive talks between Discord officials and Philippine government agencies. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) announced the decision on Thursday, Sept. 24, signaling the resolution of concerns that had prompted the initial restrictions.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda and CICC Executive Director Undersecretary Renato "Aboy" Paraiso confirmed the lifting of the ban following consultations with Discord representatives. The discussions appear to have addressed government concerns that led to the platform's temporary restriction.
