A terminated employee in Nagpur's Kapil Nagar locality is accused of deliberately torching a garage belonging to his former employer in an apparent act of retaliation, authorities said. The incident occurred early Friday morning and spread rapidly through the structure, which housed around 20 motorcycles and scooters.
The fire's intensity forced firefighters to conduct extended operations, and the blaze did not remain confined to the garage. An adjacent doctor's clinic nearby also caught fire and sustained damage in the incident. Police registered a case against the dismissed employee on suspicion of arson, though investigators are continuing their probe.
Preliminary assessments by officials valued the total damage at over Rs 20 lakh, including the destroyed two-wheelers and structural damage to both the garage and the neighboring medical facility. The motive behind the alleged act appears connected to the employee's recent termination, though police said further investigation was underway to establish the complete sequence of events and circumstances leading to the incident.
