Divine Word College launches store to support Mangyan artisans

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) has established a dedicated retail space to promote and sell handcrafted goods produced by Mangyan indigenous communities. The store, called BUNGA, officially opened this week as part of the institution's observance of National Indigenous Peoples Month.

The initiative aims to create a sustainable market for Mangyan artisans while raising awareness about their traditional craftsmanship. Products available through the store include various handicrafts and indigenous goods reflecting the cultural heritage of local Mangyan groups.

By establishing the on-campus retail outlet, DWCC seeks to provide economic opportunities for indigenous producers while supporting efforts to preserve traditional manufacturing techniques. The store represents the college's commitment to community development and cultural advocacy in Oriental Mindoro.

The BUNGA store operates as part of broader regional initiatives to strengthen economic linkages between educational institutions and indigenous communities across Mindoro.
