DMK president M.K. Stalin made an appeal to young people to engage with the philosophical tenets of social reformer Periyar E.V. Ramasamy during a visit to the Periyar Arivulagam in Coimbatore on Wednesday. The memorial, dedicated to the life and work of the 20th-century Dravidian movement pioneer, served as the backdrop for Stalin's exhortation to connect with Periyar's vision for social progress and rationalism.
During the same visit, Stalin laid the foundation stone for a newly planned integrated district office of the DMK party at Neelambur in Coimbatore. The proposed facility is expected to serve as a centralized administrative hub for the party's operations across the district.
The visit underscored the DMK's ongoing emphasis on the ideological moorings of the Dravidian movement, which has remained central to the party's political platform in Tamil Nadu. Stalin's remarks to youth reflected the party's broader efforts to engage younger voters with the reformist principles that have defined DMK politics since its inception.
Coimbatore, a major industrial and political hub in Tamil Nadu, has been a significant area of focus for the DMK in its organizational expansion efforts.
