DMK demands probe into Tamil Nadu minister's bribery allegations

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has sought an official inquiry by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) into bribery allegations levelled by a state minister, citing procedural irregularities in how the matter was handled. According to party leader I. Paranthamen, the minister failed to report the alleged offer to the DVAC or any other law enforcement agency at the time of the incident. Instead, the minister made the allegations public on November 1, without revealing the identity of the person who allegedly made the bribery offer. Paranthamen raised concerns about the absence of an official complaint filed with vigilance authorities, stating that such allegations should trigger immediate formal reporting procedures. The DMK's demand for a DVAC investigation underscores questions about the timeline and transparency surrounding the minister's handling of the serious accusation. The matter has drawn political attention as it involves both allegations of corruption and the procedural steps that should accompany such claims in the state administration.
