DMK overhauls party structure with age caps for senior posts
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has implemented sweeping organisational reforms, including mandatory age limits for party officials and an expansion of its district-level units. The changes were approved at a high-level executive committee meeting led by party president M.K. Stalin.

The DMK has introduced fresh age restrictions as part of a comprehensive restructuring of its party apparatus. Under the new guidelines, district secretaries must not exceed 70 years of age, while those leading local units face a lower threshold of 45 years. The measure aims to infuse the party hierarchy with younger leadership while maintaining institutional continuity.
The organisational revamp also involves a significant expansion of the party's grassroots presence. The DMK has decided to increase the number of district-level units from their current count to 110, a move intended to strengthen the party's reach across Tamil Nadu and improve its administrative capacity at the regional level.
The decisions were formalised through a resolution adopted during an executive committee meeting chaired by Stalin. This structural overhaul reflects the party's broader strategy to modernise its organisation and prepare for forthcoming electoral cycles. Party insiders view the initiatives as essential steps to rejuvenate internal governance and streamline decision-making processes across multiple administrative tiers.
