The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which governs Tamil Nadu, has committed to offering full legal aid to Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, who have been arrested in relation to Civil Judicial Pay (CJP) movement activities. Stalin's declaration of support came via a post on social media platforms, signalling the party's backing for the activists.
"Solidarity with Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das. The DMK stands ready to provide them with all necessary legal representation and support," Stalin stated in his message. The announcement underscores the DMK's positioning alongside those engaged in civil service-related activism in the state.
The arrests have drawn attention to ongoing tensions surrounding judicial pay structures and civil servant compensation in Tamil Nadu. The DMK's intervention suggests the party views the matter as one meriting political attention and support.
The development reflects broader political engagement with labour and service sector issues in the state, with the DMK seeking to demonstrate its commitment to defending activists' rights and providing institutional backing during legal proceedings.
