DMK's Erode Central District Secretary Quits Party Citing Personal Distress

Thoppu Venkatachalam, who held the position of district secretary for the DMK in Erode Central, has formally exited the party, bringing to an end his association with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In a statement regarding his departure, Venkatachalam indicated that unresolved grievances and negative experiences within the party structure had become untenable, prompting his decision to step down.

Venkatachalam's exit marks another departure from the DMK's ranks in Tamil Nadu. The move comes against the backdrop of periodic resignations and shifts in party membership among regional functionaries. His departure from the party apparatus represents a loss of organisational experience at the district level.

Prior to his involvement with the DMK, Venkatachalam served as a minister in the AIADMK government during its previous tenure.
