IPOH — The Department of Environment (DOE) has identified a faulty blower valve at a manufacturing factory's sewage treatment plant (STP) as part of its ongoing probe into pollution affecting the Sitiawan river in Perak.

Environmental officers collected industrial effluent samples from the facility during their investigation into the water quality issues. The defective valve in the STP's blower system was discovered during the inspection process, potentially contributing to inadequate wastewater treatment at the plant.

The valve malfunction could compromise the efficiency of the sewage treatment process, allowing untreated or partially treated effluent to potentially reach water sources.
