CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Health authorities in the Mimaropa region have intensified their readiness posture in anticipation of El Niño's potential effects, amassing critical resources and deploying contingency personnel across provinces.

The Department of Health's Mimaropa division has accumulated substantial quantities of potable water, pharmaceutical stocks, and emergency medical supplies at strategic locations. The procurement drive reflects heightened concerns about waterborne illnesses and heat-related conditions typically associated with prolonged dry periods.

During a convening of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, health officials outlined coordinated response protocols. Response teams have been placed on high alert status, with personnel designated to address anticipated public health challenges across the region's various municipalities.

Mimaropa, encompassing Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan provinces, remains vulnerable to climatic fluctuations given its archipelagic geography and population distribution. The regional health authority has emphasized inter-agency coordination to ensure comprehensive coverage of health emergency operations should El Niño conditions materialize.
