Domestic helper arrested after stealing from employer to fund failed escape

The worker had transferred the embezzled amount to her boyfriend, according to investigators. The funds were intended to support her planned departure from Singapore, which the boyfriend was supposed to facilitate by collecting her from the airport.

The arrangement fell through when the boyfriend failed to appear at the designated meeting point, leaving the domestic helper stranded. She subsequently attempted to leave the country via HarbourFront Centre's ferry terminal, where she was apprehended.
