Rooftop solar installations have gained significant traction across Dong Thap province, with local power authorities reporting strong momentum in the sector. According to data from Dong Thap Power Company, the province had accumulated 6,150 rooftop solar customers by September 2026, reflecting growing business interest in renewable energy solutions.

The province's total installed rooftop solar capacity reached 287.09 megawatts peak (MWp), demonstrating the substantial scale of the shift toward distributed solar generation. The deployments span both large installations and smaller systems suited to individual businesses.

A significant portion of the province's rooftop solar base comprises self-consumption systems, where businesses generate and use their own electricity. As of the September report, 751 customers operated such self-produced and self-consumed systems, with a combined installed capacity of 42.76 MWp. These installations allow businesses to offset their grid electricity purchases while reducing operational costs.

The growth in rooftop solar adoption in Dong Thap aligns with Vietnam's broader push to increase renewable energy capacity and reduce carbon emissions across its economy. Distributed solar systems offer businesses a practical pathway to green their operations while enhancing energy independence and economic resilience.
