DOTr to mandate facility upgrades at two Manila bus terminals

The Department of Transportation will formally summon two bus terminals operating in Manila's Sampaloc district to comply with facility improvements and operational upgrades, newly appointed Transport Secretary Vince Dizon announced Wednesday.

Dizon conducted inspections at Ohayami Trans, Florida Bus Terminal, and Victory Liner facilities as part of the department's assessment of infrastructure readiness. The directive comes as the transport sector braces for a significant increase in passenger traffic during the upcoming holiday season.

The transport chief emphasized the need for enhanced passenger experience across key terminal operations. The inspections focused on identifying critical infrastructure gaps and service deficiencies that require immediate remediation before peak travel periods commence.

The DOTr's formal summons will outline specific requirements for terminal operators to address maintenance issues, improve facility conditions, and strengthen passenger amenities. This enforcement action reflects the department's commitment to ensuring adequate capacity and safe, comfortable travel conditions throughout the regional bus transport network.
