MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has clarified that it allocated P2.024 billion for priority flood control and mitigation projects throughout the Davao Region in the 2027 national budget.

The agency issued the statement to address concerns raised by ACT Teachers Representative Antonio Tinio, who had questioned whether flood management funding for the region was excluded from the proposed budget submission.

The DPWH's allocation represents a significant commitment to addressing flooding challenges that regularly affect communities across Davao Region. The projects are expected to enhance drainage infrastructure, improve water management systems, and strengthen disaster preparedness in vulnerable areas.

The clarification comes as the government continues to prioritize infrastructure investments aimed at reducing flood-related damages and protecting lives and livelihoods in flood-prone regions across the country. Officials said the Davao Region funding is part of broader nationwide flood mitigation initiatives included in the proposed 2027 budget.
