DPWH scales back 2027 infrastructure project portfolio

MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has significantly reduced the number of infrastructure projects slated for 2027, a move aimed at improving project efficiency and fiscal responsibility. Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon announced the reduction on Wednesday during a briefing before the House Committee on Appropriations.

The decrease represents a substantial shift from previous years' project portfolios. Dizon attributed the scaling back primarily to the removal of duplicate projects and the implementation of additional cost-control measures across the department's construction pipeline.

The DPWH chief did not specify the exact number of projects that were eliminated or provide a comparison figure for previous years' project counts. However, he emphasized that the streamlined approach reflects the department's commitment to prioritizing quality implementation over project volume.
