Dr Hasmah Ali, wife of ex-PM Mahathir, laid to rest at Pusara Negara

Dr Hasmah Ali, the centenarian wife of Malaysia's longest-serving Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was laid to rest at Pusara Negara following a state funeral held in her honour.

The respected figure, who reached the milestone age of 100, was accorded the ceremonial funeral in recognition of her status and contributions as the spouse of one of the nation's most prominent leaders. Dr Mahathir served as Prime Minister across two separate tenures spanning several decades.

Dr Hasmah was known for her dignified presence throughout her husband's political career and remained a significant figure in Malaysian public life. The couple were married for many years and raised a family together while Dr Mahathir navigated Malaysia's political landscape.
