Dr Hasmah Mohamad, wife of former PM Dr Mahathir, dies at 100
Dr Hasmah Mohamad, the wife of former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, passed away this morning at the age of 100. She died at the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.

Dr Hasmah Mohamad, the long-time spouse of Malaysia's longest-serving Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, breathed her last at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday morning, marking the end of a century-long life.
The centenarian's passing comes after a life spent largely in the public eye, having been the First Lady during Dr Mahathir's two non-consecutive terms as Prime Minister spanning from 1981 to 2003 and again from 2018 to 2020.
Dr Hasmah was known for her quiet dignity and supportive role throughout her husband's lengthy political career. She had remained a respected figure in Malaysian society well into her later years, commanding affection and respect from the public.
The death of Dr Hasmah represents the end of an era for one of Malaysia's most prominent political families. She is survived by her family, including her children and extended descendants.
