DRI, STF seize 3kg hashish from train in Bihar smuggling bust

A joint operation by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and the Special Task Force (STF) in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has resulted in the seizure of approximately 3 kilograms of hashish from a moving train. The contraband, valued at around ₹3 crore in the illicit market, was recovered during a search of the Narkatiaganj-Muzaffarpur MEMU local train.

Investigators determined that the hashish shipment originated in Nepal and was being transported to Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh when it was intercepted. The operation reflects coordinated efforts between central and state-level enforcement agencies to disrupt cross-border drug trafficking routes in the region.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the seizure. Authorities have launched a wider investigation to identify additional members of the smuggling network and trace the supply chain responsible for moving contraband through rail networks in North India. The case underscores the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking through transit states, particularly along routes connecting Nepal to major Indian markets.
