A fatal traffic accident in Kota Bharu has claimed the life of a local driver whose vehicle careered off a road and into a deep ravine. The four-wheel-drive vehicle is believed to have left the roadway before descending approximately 100 metres into the ravine, according to authorities.

Rescue and recovery efforts were mobilised following the discovery of the vehicle. The driver's body was recovered from the wreckage two days after the initial incident, suggesting the accident may not have been immediately reported or discovered.

Initial investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing. Authorities have not yet released details regarding potential contributing factors, though the significant drop and remote location of the ravine would have complicated early discovery of the vehicle.

The incident underscores ongoing road safety concerns in the state, particularly on routes traversing difficult terrain where accidents can go undetected for extended periods. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution on challenging roads and to report any signs of accidents to emergency services promptly.
