The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority removed two bus drivers from service Monday after they returned positive results in drug screening tests conducted at transport terminals in Parañaque and Cubao, officials said. One driver tested positive during inspections at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), among 32 operators screened at that location. The cases underscore authorities' push to tighten safety measures as millions of Filipinos prepare to travel during the Undas holiday period, traditionally one of the year's heaviest travel seasons. The MMDA has stepped up inspections at major transport hubs to ensure bus operators meet safety standards before the long weekend. Officials did not specify what substances the drivers tested positive for or whether additional enforcement actions were being taken.
