Drunk driver kills road supervisor in highway crash near Kuala Lumpur

The fatal collision occurred on Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar near Kuala Lumpur as a maintenance team was conducting routine road work. The supervisor, who was overseeing the operation, was struck by the vehicle and died at the scene. A lorry driver working alongside the supervisor sustained injuries in the impact.

Early investigations suggest the driver of the striking vehicle was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The vehicle involved in the collision was impounded for further forensic examination, and the driver has been apprehended for questioning by the authorities.

The incident has prompted road safety officials to review safety protocols for highway maintenance crews. Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar was temporarily closed following the collision to allow for accident scene investigation and vehicle recovery. Traffic was later diverted to alternative routes while debris was cleared.

This marks the latest in a series of workplace fatalities involving road maintenance personnel in Malaysia. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and reduce speed when approaching work zones, particularly during early morning and late night hours when visibility is reduced.
