DSWD distributes P163M aid to nearly 290,000 families in Calabarzon

LUCENA CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has deployed P163.18 million in emergency aid to support families across the Calabarzon region affected by torrential rains and flooding.
The five-province area covering Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon has been the focus of an intensive relief distribution effort. According to DSWD-Calabarzon operations, the assistance has reached 290,076 families in the impacted communities.
As of Wednesday, the agency had distributed 253,986 family food packs alongside P300,000 in direct financial assistance to beneficiaries. The food packages represent a critical component of the DSWD's rapid-response strategy for disaster-affected populations, ensuring immediate access to sustenance for vulnerable households.
The relief operations underscore ongoing government efforts to address the humanitarian impact of the region's severe weather conditions. DSWD continues to coordinate assistance delivery across the Calabarzon provinces, with operations expected to expand as needs assessments proceed.
