MANILA — The Department of Social Welfare and Development plans to implement a digital tracking system designed to monitor aid beneficiaries in real time, reducing the risk of duplicate disbursements and financial waste, according to lawmakers reviewing the agency's budget.
Guimaras Representative Joaquin Carlos Rahman Nava disclosed the initiative while sponsoring the DSWD's proposed P241.56 billion budget during congressional hearings on Thursday. The system would enable authorities to maintain accurate records of beneficiaries across different social welfare programs, enhancing accountability and preventing overpayments.
The digital platform represents an effort by the social welfare agency to modernize its aid distribution mechanisms and strengthen oversight of government assistance programs. Nava faced questions from fellow legislators regarding the scope and implementation timeline of the proposed system as lawmakers examined the department's funding request.
