Dubai teenager launches AI breast cancer screening tool after grandmother's death

Saiyette Aima was ten years old when her grandmother died of breast cancer, an experience that would shape her commitment to tackling the disease across South Asia. The Dubai-based teenager channelled her grief into action, launching community-focused fundraising and awareness initiatives that gained traction through local support networks.

Expanding her reach beyond the United Arab Emirates, Aima established Pink for Purpose, an organisation dedicated to breast cancer education and prevention. She amplified her message through digital platforms, launching a YouTube channel to extend her awareness campaigns to wider audiences across the region.

Recognising the healthcare gaps in South Asia, Aima extended her mission to India, where she organised free breast cancer screening camps in underserved communities. These initiatives provided direct medical access to women with limited resources while gathering data to inform her next innovation.

This groundwork culminated in the development of CareCheck, an artificial intelligence tool designed to guide individuals through breast health decisions and screening protocols. The platform represents a convergence of Aima's personal motivation, community engagement, and technological innovation, addressing a critical health need across India and neighbouring regions where breast cancer detection rates remain significantly below global standards.
