LUCENA CITY — A fatal traffic accident claimed one life and left two others injured when three dump trucks collided on a highway in Real, Quezon, on Saturday evening, authorities reported.
The Quezon Police reported that the incident unfolded when a dump truck driven by a 50-year-old operator, identified as "Joel," was forced to stop after another vehicle suddenly cut into its lane. The unexpected maneuver triggered the multi-vehicle collision involving the three heavy vehicles.
The 58-year-old driver of one of the trucks involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other individuals sustained injuries from the impact and were attended to by emergency responders.
Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The incident highlights ongoing road safety concerns on major highways in the Quezon province, where heavy vehicle traffic is common.
