MANILA — The office of Vice President Sara Duterte escalated political tensions Monday, with her spokesperson Atty. Paolo Panelo Jr. launching a sharp rebuke of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s handling of her accusations.

Panelo Jr. characterized Marcos' response to Duterte's derogatory remarks as evidence of dismissiveness toward legitimate concerns. The spokesperson argued that the president's approach to the matter revealed a troubling disconnect from the realities facing the nation.

"The way he has treated these serious accusations shows he is out of touch with reality and not fit for office," Panelo Jr. stated, emphasizing that Duterte's camp viewed the president's comments as a trivialization of weightier issues.

The exchange marked another chapter in the public dispute between the two highest-ranking officials in the Philippine government. Duterte, who serves as Vice President, has been vocal with her criticisms of the Marcos administration in recent months, with tensions between the two officials becoming increasingly evident in public statements.
