MANILA — Lawyer Alexander Cabrera, a forensic financial analyst and chairman emeritus of Isla Lipana & Co. (PwC Philippines), testified that Vice President Sara Duterte declared only about 20 percent of her properties "on average" during questioning by defense counsel Kristine Ferrer.
The testimony came during the 38th day of Duterte's Senate impeachment trial, where the financial disclosure of the vice president has become a focal point of examination.
Cabrera's assessment was presented as part of the ongoing proceedings against the vice president, who faces multiple charges in the upper chamber. The forensic analyst's findings suggest significant discrepancies between the properties Duterte reported and those potentially in her possession.
The impeachment trial continues to scrutinize various aspects of Duterte's financial records and asset declarations as the Senate conducts its investigation into the charges filed against her.
