MANILA — The defense team of Vice President Sara Duterte said Monday it welcomes constructive criticism of its trial strategy, pledging flexibility in how it presents its case to the panel of senator-judges.
Defense spokesperson Atty. Michael Poa made the statement after Senator-Judge Panfilo "Ping" Lacson offered observations on the defense's cross-examination tactics during the 30th day of proceedings in the impeachment case against Duterte.
Poa indicated that the legal team remains open to refining its approach to more effectively communicate its arguments to the tribunal. The defense's receptiveness to feedback reflects efforts to adapt its trial strategy as the high-profile proceeding continues.
The comments come as the impeachment trial, which centers on allegations against the Vice President, enters a critical phase with both prosecution and defense teams sharpening their legal presentations before the Senate body serving as judge and jury in the case.
