Vice President Sara Duterte is not considering resignation as she battles impeachment charges in the Senate, according to her defense spokesperson Michael Poa. The statement came Wednesday when Poa was asked whether Duterte and her legal team had discussed stepping down from her position. Duterte currently faces allegations of misusing confidential funds, unexplained wealth, bribery, and grave threats in the ongoing impeachment proceedings before the Senate impeachment court. The defense counsel's declaration signals Duterte's intention to see the trial through to its conclusion rather than opt for an early exit from office. The Vice President has maintained her stance as the case progresses through the Senate, where impeachment proceedings require a supermajority vote for conviction and removal from office.
