Vice President Sara Duterte appeared before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 98 on Friday for arraignment on grave threats charges, but the court deferred the proceeding after her legal representatives submitted a motion seeking postponement.
Duterte's camp signaled its intention to vigorously contest the charges through available legal channels. The Vice President stated that her team would pursue all remedies available under Philippine law to address the allegations.
The grave threats case against Duterte is among several legal challenges she has faced in recent months. The deferment of her arraignment allows her lawyers additional time to prepare their defense strategy and file necessary pleadings before the court.
