Investigators from the DVAC conducted an aerial survey of the irrigation tank using drone footage to gather evidence in connection with the sand mining case. The aerial documentation is intended to provide detailed visual records of the tank and surrounding areas relevant to the inquiry against the DMK functionary.
The use of drone surveillance represents a modern investigative approach by the anti-corruption agency to obtain comprehensive site documentation. Such technology allows authorities to capture high-resolution imagery and mapping data that can be crucial in establishing facts related to alleged unauthorised mining activities.
E.V. Velu, a DMK party member, faces accusations related to illegal sand extraction from the irrigation tank. The investigation seeks to establish whether sand mining operations were conducted without proper authorisation or in violation of environmental regulations.
The DVAC has intensified its probe into sand mining complaints across Tamil Nadu in recent months. Authorities have been cracking down on unauthorised quarrying activities that deplete natural resources and cause environmental degradation in the state.
The case remains under investigation with the DVAC examining documentary evidence and site-based findings to determine whether violations occurred and the extent of any wrongdoing by the accused.
